WELLCOME COLLECTION STAIRCASE
This project was completed as part of my Language Audience and Environment Unit in the second year of Graphic and Media Design at LCC. We were required to make a typographic response to a chosen location, I chose to design two typefaces as part of this project, Capsule and Vertigo.
Capsule is a variable typeface designed to induce a feeling of imbalance and motion. This project was inspired by the themes of The Wellcome Collection, a fusion of medicine and art. The shapes were conceived from sketches of the modernist spiral staircase in the building that houses the collection in London.
Each letter has four variants with the rotating capsule shape, letters i and l have eight variants.
